i know a lot of people are curious about this. we're told it is a thom browne coat and dress, obviously navy blue. the fabric inspired by a men's silk tie. i will tell you it's not the first time we've seen her wearing this designer. she wore this at the dnc at the convention, as well as the final night of the debate. we're also watching the second couple, vice president joe biden and his wife jill biden, get in their limousine so they can head up in the motorcade to the capitol. you saw president obama and the first lady getting into the beast, the armored presidential limousine. they will ride separately up to the capitol from their daughters sasha and malia, who appear to be riding in this motorcade along with their grandmother, marion robinson, who is the mother, of course, of michelle obama, wolf. >> brianna, stand by for a moment. i want to keep these pictures up if we can, also pictures from the capitol. we are here on the united states capitol. we're awaiting the arrival of the president. should be coming up soon. kate balduan is here, david gergen is here. the day is

reporter, carrie budoff-brown. good morning. so how different was the tone in this speech? >> i mean, it was very different from the way he, you know, governed for the last four years or attempted to govern. he came at it from sort of a centrist, pragmatist approach, and it didn't work out so well for him a lot of the times. he faced a congress in republican hands for the last two years in the house that did not, you know, accept his agenda or pass it through the way he would like it. so i think he learned from this election, gave him the confidence to say the election delivered a mandate for my vision of government, my vision of politics, one that involves gay rights, immigration, climate change, an issue that he hasn't really spoken of since his attempts to deal with it in 2009, fell short. so this was really a different president coming out, using the election as a turning point for his agenda and really making clear that that cautious pragmatist of the last four years, that often came out, is going to give way to someone who is unabashedly starting negotiations from a more progre
